1964 Fender Stratocaster
Sunburst
Art.Nr. 64FESTRAT-L40753
This is one of the very few vintage guitars with a fully documented history: it was purchased new by its original owner in Linz, Austria, in 1964! We have a letter from the first owner, along with various photos from the past decades. This guitar was never meant to be a collector’s item — as you can easily tell, it was loved and used for its true purpose: as a musical instrument. Fortunately, nothing has been altered over the years, which is quite rare for an instrument like this. Only the frets have been replaced, and the nut was changed to a bone nut as part of that work. It is a 100% pre-CBS Stratocaster with all the desirable features: spaghetti logo, clay dots, green guard, and yellow-ink-stamped black bottom single-coil pickups. The guitar has a very lively tone — no surprise, you can almost see it just by looking at her. Now she’s ready for the next 60 years! The case is a 1970s Fender case — an original case would have been unusual for a 1964 imported Strat, as they were too expensive at the time and were typically delivered in export cases or locally available ones.
