Some guitars come with a really cool story, and this is definitely one of them. This guitar spent the first 64 years of its life in Idaho. For 25 of those years, its original owner kept it under the porch of his house, wrapped in a blanket, in the small town of Challis near the Salmon River. It’s been kept in the same family until the 90s when the new owner sent it to Dan Erlewine who refinished (only) the crackled lacquer on the fretboard – Unfortunately, the finish had turned terribly milky by the time we got the guitar, so our luthier made it look nice again and installed a fresh set of vintage tall style frets. Besides the fingerboard finish – and a repró switchtip) everything else on the guitar is bone stock. Untouched solder joints, original pickups (they really stood the test of time!) and original finish – obviously storage under a porch in a damp environment caused some heavy checking and some flaking but it still looks super nice. The lacquer on the pickguard is almost completely intact, so it’s safe to say that the guitar hasn’t been played much at all. The body date is 11/53, the neck dat is only visible in UV light and the red ink reads 12-53-TG. The QC tape in the e-cavity reads Gloria 12-4-53. The guitar is super lightweight, the neck has a dream profile, a D-profile with light V in the lower position which is super comfortable. Its comes with a new Fender poodle case.
