1974 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe
Cherry
Art.Nr. Vi74GiLPDlxCH188112
Staff’s favorite… this 1974 Les Paul not only is a stunning looking and super rare version of the Deluxe it also is an amazing playing and super transparent and woody sounding example. In 1974 Gibson offered a couple of Deluxes in Cherry finish – not the darker Winered that appeared a little later after they switched to maple necks. The top show some nice flames which is also super rare for a 70s Deluxe. The cherry finished back faded almost completely to a more brownish look. The guitar has a filled hole from a former mini switch around the knobs, a new nut, the tuners holes have been widened and filled, there was a Nashvile bridge installed once and now a new Gibson Custom Shop ABR-1 is in place. The pickguard is not original and there is a filled 3rd strap button hole on the back of the neck joint. All pots read 137.73.48 – 48th week of 1973. The two original pickups read 6,37K (pat embossed) and 6,22K (pat sticker) and sound really really good. Super open and rich. The neck is a bit on the slimmer side but has a very special shape, really comfortable and not too thin. Really an outstanding guitar that has been played but it’s still very clean. Comes in worn Custom Shop case.
