1966 Fender Mustang
Red
Art.Nr. FE66MST144498
Clean 1966 Fender Mustang in Red finish. Introduced in late 1964, the Fender Mustang was designed as Fender’s entry-level model, created to compete with the influx of affordable German and Asian guitars entering the U.S. market. Fender chose the U.S. national colors—Red, White, and Blue—for the Mustang’s initial finishes.
While often misidentified by dealers as Daphne Blue, Dakota Red, or Olympic White, the Mustang’s original colors are unique hues exclusive to this model—just as striking, and with their own vintage charm.
This 1966 example comes in a vibrant Red finish. It shows some signs of wear consistent with age but remains overall clean. The only modification is a replaced output jack with minor related soldering—otherwise all original. A fine specimen of Fender’s iconic offset design, offering authentic ’60s tone at a moderate price point. Includes a case with broken latches.
