1964 Gibson SG Standard
Cherry
Art.Nr. GI64SGSTD179285
1963/64 Gibson SG Standard – all original and in excellent condition. It’s a very interesting guitar since the serial would date it to 1964 but the specs are rather typical for 1963. All pots are dated late 1962 and the neck shape is more on the thinner 62/63 side and not a big 64 neck. Both pickups are PAF-spec patent sticker humbuckers. It also comes with factory sideways vibrato (please note: the former owner was wise enough to install the mojoaxe trem-block unit to make it stay in tune and sound better – the original tremolo is more art-deco and useless as effect. Original trem-bar comes with the guitar and the mod could be reversed without harming the guitar). The guitar has been refretted with Jumbo frets. The serial number range has no entry in the official Gibson factory ledgers/log files but there are a few custom orders in this serial range – it’s likely this guitar has been siting in the factory for a while before it was serialized and shipped. However, it’s not really important since it’s all original. It’s super nice SG, sounds and plays really good. Has been used in a professional studio. Comes incl. it’s original case.
