1953 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop

Art.Nr. GI53LPGT30171

One of the first Les Pauls with a serial number on the headstock! This is a super early 1953 model, still with the trapeze tailpiece but already with the serial number. There are only a few guitars with this feature since Gibson introduced the wraparound tailpiece a few weeks later. The early spec 52/53 Les Pauls gained a lot of popularity recently since players and collectors more and more figured out that they are just as playable as the later models using a Mojoaxe bridge. They have their own unique tone, very percussive but still big and warm. This one is a fine example with the right amount of play wear and mojo. There has been a larger jackplate installed once and now there is a repro plate matching the original holes. The wire from switch to jack has been replaced as well as the pickguard bracket (original wire comes with the guitar). Other than this everything is original, Goldtops look best when they’re a bit worn and aged over time. The mahogany back has some nice figuring! It’s a lightweight example with great feeling neck, very comfortable, not too big, perfect 50s Les Paul shape. Comes incl. it’s original flat top brown case and including a free Mojoaxe bridge – we are happy to install it for you.
