1996 Gibson Les Paul 1959 Reissue – Sunburst

Super flamey 1996 Gibson Custom Shop Historic Collection Les Paul 1959 Reissue. This is the first R9 Gibson made in 1996, serial 9 6001 with exceptionally flamed 3-D  “Killertop”. It’s in amazing condition but it shows some very minor wear, a handful of dings and dongs. The lacquer is very thin, it has a nice top carve and a beautiful grained mahogany body with great color. The neck is not too thick, it feels realy good and the guitar has a great weight with only 3950g. The electronics have been upgraded to a matching set of CTS pots and two Sprague Black Beauty capacitors. This guitar doesn’t only look absolutely amazing – it sounds just as good. We have been suprised how good it sounds actually, very open sounding, not as muddy as many historics, clear highs and still a lot of punch and midrange. Definitely one of the best “new” Les Pauls we had in the shop so far. The “early reissues” are sought after, because Gibson had much better maple tops in this period and a 59 Reissue was not a regular production guitar back then – they only made a few hundred a year. Comes incl original brown case and case candy (no COA in 1996!).
