1965 Gibson ES-335 TD – Sunburst

This 1965 Gibson ES-335TD is a rare transition period model that still has the factory stoptail but a slightly narrower nut (still 41,5mm) than the earlier examples – but not as narrow as later models (39-40mm) with the trapeze tailpiece. The guitar is a true piece of British Rock and Roll history – it was owned by Whitesnake’s guitarist Micky Moody for a long time. It can be seen on a picture in his biography (a copy of the book comes with the guitar) and there are more recent pictures online as well. The guitar has been played and of course heavy playing causes wear and sooner or later some work had to be done to the guitar: the bridge pickup has been rewound long ago and it appears that the fretboard was off at some point, maybe for a trussrod repair. The bridge posts have been slightly relocated maybe for better intonation. It’s not a case queen for sure – it was used as a musical instrument…but ain’t it super cool to own a guitar that already served a famous player to create his art and is ready for another lifetime? This is such a guitar. Comes incl. 70s case.
