1965 Fender Stratocaster – Black

From the original owner who bought it new in 1966 in Germany… super rare and original Black 1965 Strat. The former owner played it for a while but most of the time the guitar was stored in the case. He had the bridge pickup replaced with a Seymour Duncan and the complete electronics was “updated” as well. Luckily he kept all the original parts so we could restore it back to it’s original condition. The original bridge pickup works perfect and the first week of 1965 pots as well. One pickup is even dated to 1964. The neck still has the clay dot inlays and a beautiful light colored rosewood fingerboard. The guitar has a clean body finish, some play wear and some dings and dongs and the vertical weather checking structure with is typical for some custom colors from that era. In the neck pocket you can clearly see the yellow stain and white primer under the black finish. The back of the neck has some wear but it’s only some missing lacquer, the color is still pretty even. Of course it still has the small headstock with the transitional Fender logo. We refretted the guitar with 6105 fret wire. The guitar is not only stunning being a super rare vintage collector’s grade piece, it also sounds really really good – very big and fat Strat tone, hot pickups with great output – really suits the guitar well. Guitar comes incl. original strap and bridge cover.
