1961 Gibson SG Special in TV Yellow finish. Yes, technically it’s an SG according to the Gibson price list but of course its the same body as a 1959 Les Paul Special. This is the third incarnation of this style, the first one had a different control/switch layout and the pickup was too close to the neck causing massive problems with heel cracks – this is the corrected version and it’s amazing! Of course it has the 61 blade neck but it feels really nice. The TV Yellow finish is so nice, a bit worn on the back of the neck but still pretty intact on the body. There is a shadow from a sticker on the front but otherwise its clean. It once had Grovers (like 30% of all Juniors and Specials) but the original tuners are back on. Electronics is untouched, the guitar is in all original condition except for the tuners, new frets and neck output jack plate. Pots are late 1959 – these guitars were built in 1960 and shipped in 1961. We add an Mojoaxe tailpiece for better intonation. Comes incl. new case.
