1957 Gibson Les Paul Standard – Goldtop

One of the first solidbody electric guitars factory equipped with the then brand new humbucking pickup also known as “patent applied for” or “PAF”. These early versions had stell covers with sharper edges and no “patent applied for” sticker at all. The guitar is a wonderful example of these early Goldtops. Available from early/mid 1957 until mid 1958 its only a little more than one year these iconic guitars have been in production. This guitar is all original besides a small filled hole between bridge pickup volume/tone controls from a former mini-switch. This has been done from a pro luthier so it’s almost invisible. Otherwise everything is original, all parts, white M69 rings, pickguard, non-wire ABR-1 and stoptail. The guitar has been played and loved – no wonder it has that dry throaty honk – the typical PAF Les Paul tone. The PAF Goldtops have become as sought after as the later “Bursts” – basically it’s the same guitar in a different finish. Comes incl. original Lifton case.
