1957 Gibson ES-175 D - Natural

First year of the PAF, first year of the PAF equipped ES-175 and on top of that it's the dual pickup version in the more rare Natural finish! This is the queen of the ES-175 guitars! Gibson built 175 of ES-175DN in 1957 and since the PAF humbuckers were introduced in mid February 1957 on the ES-175 - before they were used in the Les Pauls - there may be around 150 ES-175DN like this in total. This guitar is all original besides it once had Grovers installed and original Klusons are back on (it has pre -57 "no lines" now), the binding (on the neck only!) has been replaced (likely during a former fret job) and there is a light clear coat overspray on the back of the neck. The pickguard bracket was replaced (original in case) and the thumb wheels of the bridge are later chrome ones. Both pickups are the original steel cover, no sticker PAF humbuckers and sound like a dream, super nice! However, the pickup in the neck position has a sticker with a date 04/80 and it has brass baseplate screws instead of steel - which would be correct for the first year PAF. The solder definitely looks unbroken and original so we can't tell why this happened. It is like it is. Amazing guitar, really an exceptional piece! Comes in non original case.
