1953 Fender Esquire – Blond

Super nice 1953 Fender Esquire Blackguard in Blond finish. This guitar has been purchased by it’s former owner in Houston, Texas in 1996 and remained in Germany since then – its a well known guitar that has been featured in an article in the German Gitarre&Bass magazine in 2008 (it’s described that Billy Gibbons traded this guitar for another one). It’s in original condition besides the electronics (pots, caps and switch (including switch-tip) have been replaced in the early 90s (pots are dated 1992)). The original pickup has been wax potted. The fretboard has been polished during a fretjob. Otherwise it’s original, beautiful finish, it has the “ESQ” penciled under the neck plate and body. The tape in the cavity reads Mary 5-12-53. Typical for that era, the notched brass saddles and mix of slotted and Phillips screws. Great feeling neck – wonderful sounding example! Thos Blackguard Esquires are amongst the coolest vintage guitars at all! Comes in new case.
