A Les Paul Custom is a Les Paul Custom is a Les Paul Custom. Well, sometimes things are a little bit more complicated. This is a Les Paul Custom that we at GuitarPoint designed based on specs that we felt to be a great benefit for most players compared to the regular 1957 reissue base model. We did our version of the perfect Les Paul Custom and we’re proud of the outcome! The first you will notice is the Nickel hardware – we prefer the worn Nickel look over shiny gold. It also doesn’t have the one-piece mahogany body – it has a 59 spec sorted lightweight mahogany body and a two piece mahogany top. This makes the guitar more lightweight without any weight relief- the body is the same Gibson would use for an 1959 Les Paul Standard reissue. It also has the 1959 Les Paul neck shape and the bigger 1959 reissue Jescar 45100 fret wire – which makes it feel much more comfortable and easier to play. A funny side note is that Gibson did not allow us to give it a 1959 serial number so it’s serialized as a 1957 Custom but it’s officially named “59 Les Paul Custom Mahogany Top Ebony 2PU VOS GH” in the Gibson records. Makes it even cooler! We ordered a set of 5 pieces with these specs and this is one of them. Everything else is bone stock specs: two unpotted Custombuckers, the newer pots and bumblebees… a wonderful guitar. Please note: The guitar has a very small dent on the back.
