In 1959 and 1960 Gibson did 2 small batches of Cherry colored Les Paul Customs. We had one of 6 1960 Customs in this color here in the shop – an amazing guitar that inspired us to do a small run together with our friends at the Gibson Custom Shop. We did not want to just copy it – we made it a unique model with some cool specs: being a 59 model it has the desired 59 neck shape which is really nice and authentic! The hardware is nickel and the inlays are trapeze Mother of Pearl which is a nice mixture of Standard/Custom features, such as the Kluson tuners. The weight of only 3800g makes it a perfect tool to gig with, the full-on mahogany construction has such a nice midrange growl.. we must admit that we love these guitars! A funny side note is that Gibson did not allow us to give it a 1959 serial number so it’s serialized as a 1957 Custom but it’s officially named “59 Les Paul Custom Mahogany Full Cherry Aniline Dye” in the Gibson records. Guitar has 2 light scratches on the back.
