The L-5 CES is the crown jewel of the Gibson archtop legacy—designed under Lloyd Loar in the 1920s, electrified in 1951, and made iconic by Wes Montgomery. This is a true reissue built through 3D mapping of vintage originals, answering the call of archtop aficionados around the world. Faithfully recreated from advanced 3D scans of late-1950s Gibson L-5 models, it has a dovetail neck joint, three-piece maple/walnut neck, figured maple sides, and bookmatched figured maple back, built to original methods. The Patent Applied For humbuckers have been matched to 1957 specifications to deliver the tonal authority that made the L-5 CES the premier professional jazz guitar.
