Fender Custom Shop 1956 Stratocaster w/Slabboard - Dakota Red Heavy Relic
What if... we take a 1956 alder body with a 57-style "soft V" neck and put a dark slab rosewood board on it? No problem... here it is: a cross between some cool specs of the 50s. The neck feels really really nice, it's strong but yet comfortable, smooth, actually it reminds us of a vintage Les Paul which may also be caused by the 9.5 - 12" fretboard radius. The finish is a "Super Faded/Aged" Dakota Red which makes it look a bit more pinkish - pretty nice with the 8-hole green guard - caused by the 56-style body routing (this actually would be period correct for mid-1959). If you would try to fit this into a vintage correct period you would say it's a super early mid-59 slabboard Strat with 56/56 neck profile. Anyway, it's a very very nice and unique spec'd Custom Shop Strat that feels and plays killer! The frets are 6105, the pickups are Josefina wound Tone Bones.
