If there would be the ULTIMATE Custom Shop Les Paul – this would be it. The essence of the golden years – Tom Murphy, Edwin Wilson (RIP) and Rick Gembar. Those were the years. The Custom Shop was more independent from the corporate office, they were doing a lot of things for the sake of building a great guitar. Edwin Wilson was full of passion, sourcing the best wood and the best parts to make those reissues better every year. The True Historic series were a huge step for the Custom Shop. This guitar is a TH9, upgraded parts, measurements and finish. BVut its a lot more than that. It’s a special project done exclusively for the Japanese market as a replica of BOTB page 62 – a guitar that may be familiar with all you Burst lovers since the aging is super cool. No other than Tom Murphy himself painted and aged this guitar. There are plenty of pictures of the process, a pic with Yasuhiko Iwanade, the author of The Beauty of the Burst, a special hand signed COA with signatures of the 3 big names of the Custom Shop, Rick Gembar, Edwin Wilson and Tom Murphy. The back plate is signed by Murphy too. Oh, and the guitar itself? Well. Just look at it. Or don’t even look at it. It so stunning that you are forced to say: Only Murphy can do that. And you would be right! On top this thing sounds and plays as insane as it looks 😉
