Super-rare 2016 Gibson ES-335 Collector's Choice #42 JD Simo "Red" Replica. This is a very special guitar made by the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville (not Memphis!). The run was limited to 25 pieces which we would consider a *real* limited run and way more limited than the other Collector's Choise guitars. This is a replica of JD Simo's beloved number one guitar called "Red", an original 1962 Gibson ES-335TDC. The guitar has been painstakingly analyzed at the Gibson Custom Shop and recreated as one of the best ES guitars that ever left the factory. The "Artist Proof" guitars are pre-production samples that usually are given to the owners of the original model. This particular guitar comes from a private collection and has been signed and played by JD Simo in our shop during his visit for a guitar clinic. It's a very resonant guitar with an exceptional woody tone. The neck is on the slimmer side, just as the original. Comes including all case candy and has barely been played.
