This is a special one right here. In 2003 Dave Carpenter from Music Machine created a limited edition run at the Gibson Custom Shop, called the “Stinger”-series. The “Stinger” Les Pauls have always been super sought after guitars – all had carefully selected woods and were equipped with brazilian rosewood which made them not available in Europe of course. This guitar is officially confirmed by Gibson – it has been ordered by Dave Carpenter in February 2003 and shipped in April to Music Machine. We have been in touch with a former MM exmployee who confirmed us that this guitar was ordered specifically for a customer who wanted two Murphy Aged Stinger spec guitars – the only two Tom Murphy did for them – and this is one! Although the guitar has a beautiful dark rosewood fretboard it’s also confirmed it’s Indian Rosewood. Besides all that history you have an outstanding R9 with exceptionally flamed top and color, big neck and incredible tone – really a top-of-the-line 1959 reissue.
