1969 Gibson Les Paul Standard Goldtop Factory Humbucker
This is something you maybe see once in a lifetime: Ultra rare Factory Humbucker 1969 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop! This is a legit one-piece body, three-piece mahogany neck, big headstock 1969 Les Paul with original factory Gibson humbuckers – made only 10 years after the last PAF Goldtop was produced). We got this guitar from its former owner who bought it in 1983 (original invoice included) in Germany as a “Les Paul Deluxe”. Within the last 42 years he researched every now and then but other than everything appears to be 100% original factory he never really found any provenance for the factory humbucker routings until he got in touch with us. Our friends at Gibson confirmed that this particular guitar has been shipped on September 4 1969. It’s in a special ledger and the serial 804405 was used twice – once for an ES-125T and also for a “Lp Std sp” – Les Paul Standard Special – a custom ordered guitar. The routings, the transitional tenon with the added mahogany piece and the finish are 100% 1969 – everything matches up perfectly. The”latesixtieslespauls.com” website shows a guitar that is the exact twin of this example owned by Jim Peterik (Survivor). He came up with a story that he purchased the guitar in 1969 from “Guitar Gallery” in Chicago who ordered two Les Paul Standards with humbuckers instead of P90s. It also has the big headstock, “Deluxe” on the trussrod cover, black plastic parts (M69 pickup mounting rings and 3-ply pickguard – there were no creme parts for full-size humbucker Les Pauls available in 1969) and the cream poker chip. This is likely either the other of those two or another dealers custom order. The guitar once had a Bigsby installed but only for a short time since there are no shadows on the finish visible, not even in UV light. It had cream M8 rings and pickguard installed at some point but all the original parts are back on. This is one of the earliest Les Paul Standard reissues known to exist and a uber rare vintage gem. We are proud to make it available again since 1983. Comes in original case with purple plush.
