1969 Gibson Johnny Smith JSD Dual Pickup – Sunburst

Beautiful 1969 dual pickup version of the Johnny Smith Archtop in excellent condition. Between 1963 and 1970 Gibson produced only 55 dual pickup versions of the Johnny Smith model! The Johnny Smith model was introduced in 1961 as single pickup and later in 1963 as dual pickup version. The complete electronics is mounted on the pickguard. It features a 17″ body with venetian cutaway, solid carved spruce top and flamed maple back and sides. The scale length is 25″, the 3-piece maple neck has an ebony fretboard. The guitar is in stunning condition, there is only minimal play wear, a few dings and dongs and some oxidation/worn off gold plating. There is another serial number visible under the current serial number 912996 – the last digit is a mis-hit which is likely the reason the guitar has a black factory stinger. You see that often, especially on archtops usually to hide factory flaws. The former owner installed a 6,3mm output jack so the solder has been touched, but the original small jack is back in place. We will provide a cable. The tailpiece has been changed with an old L-5 tailpiece (holeshave been professionally filled). The strap buttons are Schaller straplocks. Comes incl. original black Lifton case.
