1969 Gibson Byrdland – Sunburst

Absolutely stunning! This is an exceptionally impressive guitar—an early 1969 Gibson Byrdland in excellent+ condition. Aside from one typical issue—the out-gassing pickguard, which fell apart and left some marks on the pickup covers (since replaced)—the guitar is completely original and just perfect.

In 1969, Gibson reintroduced some great features to the Byrdland. The sharp Florentine cutaway was replaced with a more elegant Venetian cutaway, and the neck got a more comfortable, wider nut width along with regular-spacing humbuckers. Impressively, this guitar still has the pre-T-top square-hole patent sticker humbuckers (the covers have been removed for inspection), the classic ’60s Gibson logo, and the factory stinger on the back of the headstock.

The finish is exceptionally clean, highlighting the beautifully figured maple back and sides, as well as the lovely grain of the solid spruce top. The Byrdland is essentially the shorter-scale sister of the L-5, but this ’69 model—with its regular nut width—is much more comfortable to play, even for those with larger hands.

This is truly a remarkable guitar in every way! It comes with its original black Gibson case, lined with plush orange/yellow plush.
