1965 Gibson Melody Maker D – Cherry
1965 Gibson Melody Maker D – Cherry
1965 Gibson Melody Maker D – Cherry in good condition. This is the desireable two pickup non-tremolo version! The beautiful cherry finish hasn´t faded much and still is bright in color. It´s a full scale version with a scale-lenght of 625 mm, the solid 1-piece mahogany neck has a big c-profile and a full 42mm nut width. The pot codes are 134.65.08 and 134.65.11. It's a lightweight fun axe with only 2.65kg of pure old wood with beautiful mahogany grain visible through the cherry finish. The electronics cavity under the pickguard has been painted with a thin graphite layer to prevent hum at some point and the bridge is a newer replacement with the correct compensated "lightning bar" for the non-wound G-string (the original one is actually not usable nowadays). Also the machine heads and the trussrod cover have been replaced with newer reissues. There are two small dowels on the headstock but they're located between the E/A/G tuners – there was no crack or any other repair done. Maybe somebody drilled two holes for whatever.. they're only on the surface and not all the way through. It's an awesome sounding and playing wide neck guitar that's still a bargain! Comes in hardshell case.
