1964 Gibson SG Standard – Cherry
These don’t appear often! Early 1964 Gibson SG Standard with that bigger neck profile everybody loves and it’s the Clapton and Harrison year of course. This is why those 63/64 models are more desired than the earlier PAF versions. The solder joints are untouched, the 4 pots are still dated to 1963. It has a repaired heel crack which was done long ago and is 100% stable – there are 3 nails/pins visible between the 20th and 21st fret. There is also a (typical for SGs) repaired crack from the output jack to the cavity. The bridge is a later 60s patent number ABR with nylon saddles and the mounting rings and the poker chip are later replacements. Pickup covers have been off – we inspected the pickups and both are the original PAF-spec pre-T-Top double black lead humbuckers. Otherwise the guitar is very clean and even still has a lot of color left! Especially the bridge pickup sounds amazing, it almost plays AC/DC by itself. Really nice guitar, great opportunity because they hard to find and in original condition they’re way more expensive! It has been newly refretted. Comes incl. original case.
