1962 Gibson ES-355 TD – Cherry Stoptail Conversion
A great Player that we brought over from the US! This early 1962 Gibson ES-335 has been converted to stoptail long ago – the original sideways vibrato is not usable anyway so it’s a great improvement if you really wanna play the guitar. The original tremolo is not mounted to the top so there are only holes on the bottom around the strap pin. The neck has been refinished and the serial has been reprinted. It once had Wafflebacks tuners but the original Grovers are now back in place. One pot is newer (1975). The (later) ABR has been slightly relocated for better intonation. The body has the original finish and is super clean! The pickups are a set of Kloppmann humbuckers that were made specifically for us and for this guitar – they even had a “tone aged” treatment by Andreas Kloppmann himself and they sound just perfect. We wanted the best new pickups for this wonderful guitar! Nothing can beat the old wood – the guitar has new jumbo frets but still the great rounded fretboard edges for the ultimate comfortable feel! Bridge pickup rings is an original M69, neck is an M8. Of course the wide nut width and long neck tenon, a full-on golden era construction! We converted the guitar to Mono and pulled the Varitone (comes with the guitar in case you want to put it back in) to make it even more usable and remove the additional weight. The outcome is an amazing sounding guitar! No breaks or any structural damage at all. Comes incl. new case.
