1961 Gibson ES-355 TD – Cherry – Factory Mono!

Super rare factory Mono early 1961 Gibson ES-355TD in Cherry finish. It’s a ES-335 in the same layout as the ES-335 without the Varitone and Stereo output – mostly preferred by players and collectors. It‘s confirmed in the Gibson factory ledger mentioned as ES-355TD shipped on 3-3-1961. The finish has faded a lot – it’s been a darker cherry finished guitar and the tan-lines under the Bigsby or hardware are strong. The neck has completely faded to a light brown color. We carefully inspected the guitar in depth but we can’t see any evidence of refin, overspray or hidden breaks. The back of the headstock however seems to have been buffed or polished once, maybe to remove a store sticker… The guitar has original electronics and a set of PAF humbuckers. The covers have been off. There once was a Nashville bridge installed, now a wire-ABR-1 is in place (slightly widened holes to match the larger posts). It has some minor play wear, mostly on the backside of the neck and the usual wear on the gold-plating. Pots are dated to 1959 and it still has the bumblebee caps. Great sounding and playing instrument and truly a rare find! Comes in it’s original black Gibson hardshell case with yellow plush.
