1961 Gibson SG Special – Cherry

One of the first SG Special guitars in the actual SG shape! The Gibson SG Special debuted in 1960 but still had the Les Paul “Double Cut” body shape and a missing “Les Paul Junior” silkscreen – this was the first model Gibson named “SG” in their catalog. During 1961 the body was changed to the new SG shape. This SG Special has the early slanted wraparound tailpiece and still has late 1960 pot codes. The original trussrod cover has been sanded down for some reason. Super nice guitar in all original condition with nice color and minor wear – besides a mark/wood chip on the back of the neck. Typical early 60 “blade” neck, plays really nice and fast. Great player and great future investment! Comes incl. newer Gibson case.
