1958 Gibson Flying V - Korina

The "Dixie V". This is just amazing... an original first batch 1958 Gibson Flying V. The myth...the legend...the holy grail. This guitar has quite an interesting history. It’s been featured in the 1994 edition of the famous book "Gibson Electrics" by the late André Duchossoir. It was believed for many decades that it was one of the Vs that shipped in the very early 60s - like a couple of them actually did, built from original leftover bodies with later parts, but it is NOT! It's a first batch 1958 Flying V. We went through an extended authentication process and read out the correct but long time misread serial number (serial got almost completely faded but we managed to trace it 100% from the ink remants and imprints) - it's 8-2705 - a guitar that is logged in the 1958 gibson factory ledgers confirmed by Gibson as being shipped in May 26 1958 to the Dixie Bargain Center in Maryland. As in Duchossoir’s book it currently has a nylon saddle, early 1960s ABR-1 and and reflector knobs wich maybe got added on some time ago, but otherwise all parts and features date Dixie to original first batch 1958 specs V. Holds all the manufacturing features that are typical for the first production models - it has the original black pickguard that only the very first one's had, cavity manufacturing processes, the original gold hardware, untouched solders in cavities, correct pot codes and capacitor version, all for the first batch, that can also be found some first batch ES-335 models, as well as the right gold PAFs from early 58. Dixie has the mix of black pickguard and white jack plate, just like the famous "Amos" Flying V which shipped only a few days later with the same exact specs. It also comes with the original and perfectly fitting V brown case - maybe the Flying V case is the most sought after guitar case at all and it's incredibly important it is included with so many fakes of this guitar around. A great piece of history that has been in Frankfurt/Germany for a very long time! Just WOW! Maybe a once in a lifetime experience!
