1951 Fender Precision Bass – Blond

How cool is that? This is one of the super rare first year production model Precision bass – serial number 0030. One of about 80 models built in 1951 – a true piece of history! This bass originally came with one of those early flakey finishes so it came back to the factory in 1956 and got a ligther blonde refin which was typical at the time. There are markings on both body and neck which typical of Fender refinish during this era – there is masking tape with serial number on the back of the pickguard and marks on the back of the neck (0030) as well as a new body date (2/56) over the original body date (you can still read “51”). The electronics have been changed in the factory as well and reads 304.5.41. The coolest thing: this bass has been featured in the famous book “The Pinecaster” – can’t get much better than this! It comes with original brown Victoria gig bag.
