Rare 1946 Stromberg G-3 in Sunburst, serial number 482. The G-series belongs to the heart of Stromberg’s archtop history. These guitars came from a small Boston workshop serving professional musicians, with Elmer Stromberg responsible for most of the guitar building. Production was limited, and surviving examples offer a fascinating alternative to the better-known Gibson and Epiphone archtops of the period.This non-cutaway G-3 has the traditional silhouette so closely associated with the swing era. For anyone interested in the instruments behind the rhythm sections of early jazz, a Boston-built Stromberg deserves serious attention. A special addition to any vintage archtop collection. This example has some repaired cracks, not uncommon. It also has a headstock repair and the neck has been reset. Inlay moved from 14th to 15th fret. Filled with rosewood. Probably factory error.
