1937 D’Angelico Excel – Sunburst

What a beauty. This 1937 D’Angelico Excel is crack free, no repairs but it’s been played a lot! The finish wore off, especially on the neck and you can tell it’s former – or at least one of it’s former owner “TJ” must have used and loved it for a long time. First developed in late 1935, the Excel was the top-of-the-line 17″ size model of the D’Angelico line and kind of a competitive model to the Gibson L-5 guitar. The earliest Excel that was dated in the factory ledger was built in March 1936 our example #1258 only 13 month later, the ledger dates it to 22.April 1937. It’s got a carved spruce top with parallel bracing, and maple back and sides. Comes incl. case.
