Early 1970 Gibson Les Paul Custom Black Beauty in Ebony finish! Big fat neck on this one! Still no “Made in USA” Logo but already a volute. Still the 50s/60s style clear coat that was gone in the early 70s – they have the glass like finish with nice checking – later models had more plasticizers ans the topo carve became more flat. The guitar once had Grovers but the original Waffleback tuners are back on. The pickups have been out and the covers have been off – we checked them carefully and they are the original slotted baseplate screw patent sticker T-top humbuckers. Its been professionally refretted. The pots are dated 37th week of 1969 and may have been added the wire to the output jack is new. Really cool guitar, amazing look and wonderful neck. We received the guitar with a heavy stoptail so we added a Schwarz St helens stoptail – exact repro of the 1950s version. Original M8 pickup rings, pickguzard, trussrodcover, ABR bridge with nylon saddles. No breaks or oversprays. All original 1970 Customs sell for around 10K. Comes incl. its original case with purple plush.
