1964 Gibson Firebird VII
Sunburst
Art.Nr. GI64DBVII171649
A rare bird! The Firebird VII – the king of the Firebird line! Only 173 guitars were shipped in 1964 – compared to 1254 Firebird III models! Introduced in 1963 the Firebird VII was the Les Paul/SG Custom version of the Firebird lineup – typical appointments such as the three pickups, gold hardware and an ebony fretboard with block inlays make it the luxury version of the Firebirds. The Firebird models are easy to compare with the SG lineup from that period: Firebird I would be the Junior, III is the SG Special, V is the Standard and VII is the equivalent to the Custom model. Of course you have Brian Jones in mind when you see one of these – you can also see Ronnie Wood playing on in the “Like a Rolling Stone” video! The total shipping numbers may be around 250 pieces since the shipping records of 1965 include the later “non-reverse” versions. And this is one of them – a beautiful and all original guitar (besides a pro refret), no breaks, no modifications, untouched electronics, beautiful Sunburst finish. There is some play wear but not much, all in all it’s an exceptionally clean Bird! Amazing guitar! Comes incl. very clean original case with all latches working.
