1961 Gibson SG Special in TV Yellow finish. Yes, technically it’s an SG according to the Gibson price list but of course its the same body as a 1959 Les Paul Special. This is the third incarnation of this style, the first one had a different control/switch layout and the pickup was too close to the neck causing massive problems with heel cracks – this is the corrected version and it’s amazing! Of course it has the 61 blade neck but it feels really nice. The TV Yellow finish is so nice, a bit worn on the back of the neck but still pretty intact on the body. There is a shadow from a sticker on the front but otherwise its clean. It once had Grovers (like 30% of all Juniors and Specials) but the original tuners are back on. Electronics is untouched, the guitar is in all original condition except for the tuners. Pots are late 1959 – these guitars were built in 1960 and shipped in 1961. We add an Mojoaxe tailpiece for better intonation. Comes incl. new case.
