1961 Gibson ES-335 TD
Sunburst
Art.Nr. GI61ES335SB-2407
Early 1961 Gibson ES-335TD “Dot”. Still the Mickey Mouse ears, pronounced carved top – just beautiful. The ES-335 models has been introduced less than 3 years before this guitar was made! The heart of this guitar is a set of sweet sounding PAF humbuckers. The covers have been off but the pickups appear to be original (neck pickup wire has been soldered). The pots read 134.60.04 (4th week of 1961) and it has the original Sprague Black Beauty caps. It once had Grovers so the hole shave been slightly enlarged and now there are repro Klusons installed. On the top re two doweled holes – we can’t tell why but its there. On the pickguard is also a small filled hole which is barely visible. The two retainer wire holes of the ABR bridge have been slightly enlarged so two small screws keep the retainer wire in place (smart actually!) It’s been refretted with jumbo frets. Other than that it’s in original condition – original finish. Super nice guitar, the neck is not as skinny as some other pencil neck 61s, it feels really nice. Great sounding guitar – a real PAF Dot neck for a reasonable price! Comes incl. a little later (64-68ish) case.
