1953 Fender Telecaster – Blond
This 1953 Telecaster is a wonderful example of a 3rd year „Blackguard“ Telecaster which first official appeared under that name in late 1951. The body of the guitar is dated by the famous Tadeo Gomez (Tadeo 8-20-53) and the neck is dated 9-53. In addition to that there is also the masking tape signed by Gloria (Gloria 9-18-53) in the electrics cavity which is common for that period and which you also see on 1954 Stratocasters. The guitar is lightweight with 3,30Kg, the pickups read 6,71K(N) and 5,65K(B) and the pots are dated 140-2-18 (18th week of 1952). The guitar has been refretted with vintage style frets and has a new nut that usually goes along with the fretjob – original nut comes with the guitar). The original switch and one of the capacitors have been soldered – maybe some former owner bypassed the „dark circuit“ and according to the former owner/seller the guitar had a new switch installed but the original switch is now back in place. The two pots, two caps and switch are original. There are four small dowel filled holes behind the bridge from a former tremolo. Other than that the guitar appears to be fully original, no oversprays – original finish and hardware. It has a nice round neck profile and feels and sounds as you would expect it from a famous Blackguard Telecaster. Comes in original Tweed case.
