One of the great names in acoustic archtops! This 1945 Stromberg Master 400, serial number 563, comes in Blonde with its original hardshell case. With its imposing 19-inch body, the Master 400 was built for a very specific job: providing acoustic rhythm that could hold its own in a full orchestra. It became closely associated with Freddie Green and the Count Basie Orchestra, whose rhythm section helped define the sound of swing. Built in the small Boston workshop of Charles and Elmer Stromberg, these instruments represent a remarkable chapter in American guitar making. The full-body Master 400 is the classic expression of that tradition — a large orchestral archtop designed around acoustic power and projection. A rare blonde example of Stromberg’s flagship model.
